New Year....New Outlook

Someone sent me an email with the following thoughts on life....so I thought I would share.....

When in doubt, just take the next small step.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

Pay off your credit cards every month.

You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

It's OK to let your children see you cry.

Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

Over prepare, then go with the flow.

Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

The most important sex organ is the brain.

Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

Always choose life.

Forgive everyone everything.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

No matter how you feel, get up and show up.

Take a deep breath.

If you don't ask, you don't get.

Yield.

And here is to a great year for everyone...cheers!

Dreams Turning Into Reality

I have declared this year as the year to betterment for myself and this includes ALL areas of my life.  For a little extra incentive, I started creating a dream board last year to display all the things I want or have dreamed of.  Some are little things such as the iPad and a Canon SLR camera, while others are a BMW, coffee shop, trips, and more.

Going back to the description I gave in my blog header "about me", that this blog would be an eclectic array of postings based on the way I am....well it is true.  I have always hated creating goals and objectives for any job I had, I am not a goal setter in my own life, and quite frankly I just don't like tying myself down to writing a goal.  Pretty scary considering I run my own business and have children!  My theory is to have flexibility so one can change their mind....a written goal does not allow for any change unless you want to fail that goal....or at least in my mind.

As I get older, I continue to look at those around me with goals, and I am beginning to see the pattern of goal setting being success setting (that is my own terminology for it).  Considering I really want those things on my dream board, and I am not getting any younger, I have decided this needs to be the year I begin to set goals...make a plan.  There are so many key areas in my life that need to get better -- there is my business (which to my surprise did pretty well this last year I found after I ran a profit and loss statement yesterday), my family, my relationship with my husband, friendships, and me.

So here is to starting my journey into 2011 on the best foot ever.  I am armed with new books and things I need to make me a healthier, better person (kind of ironic purchasing things to make a better me when not spending is on my list not to do).  I guarantee this will be a bumpy ride, but my hope is to look back at the end of this year and find a changed person for the better.
